Grand Religious Festival to Be Held at Devghat Dham with Prominent Saints

Devghat Dham, a sacred pilgrimage site, is set to host a grand religious festival featuring notable figures such as Dhirendra Krishna Shastri (Bagheswar Baba), Yoga Guru Ramdev, and Acharya Balkrishna. The event will take place from Kartik 27, coinciding with the auspicious day of Tulasi Ekadashi, and will continue for five days.

The festival is being organized by the Devghat Area Development Committee and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in celebration of the Bharatpur Visit Year. Bharatpur Metropolitan City and Devghat Rural Municipality will serve as promoters of the festival, with an invitation extended to Gaidakot Municipality to join as a supporter.

Under the leadership of Bharatpur Metropolitan Mayor Renu Dahal, a delegation has visited Delhi to formally invite Bagheswar Baba, Yoga Guru Ramdev, and Acharya Balkrishna to the event. After receiving the invitation, the delegation also traveled to Haridwar for discussions, leading to the final decision for the prominent figures to participate. The dignitaries are expected to stay in Devghat for three days.

Mayor Dahal expressed enthusiasm about the festival, stating, “The event is anticipated to attract millions of attendees and provide a platform to showcase the significance of Devghat to the international community.” She believes that the festival will significantly contribute to promoting religious tourism.

The festival’s coordinator, former Devghat Area Development Committee Chairman Tanknath Paudel, highlighted that this will be the largest festival ever held at Devghat. Referred to as the Shankar Mochan Mahayagya, it is expected to draw over 100,000 devotees daily.

Paudel noted that the festival will feature saints, Mahamandleshwar, Jagatguru, and religious leaders from Nepal and India. He added that this event will aid in promoting Nepal’s religious tourism sector and include various religious programs such as the Gandaki Parikrama.

Following the formal invitations, Mayor Dahal, Paudel, and social figure Umashankar Agarwal were honored by the Our Pride Trust in Delhi. The recognition was followed by the formal invitations extended to the revered gurus.

The Bharatpur Metropolitan City is celebrating 2024 as the Visit Year, aiming to rejuvenate the economy post-COVID through tourism initiatives. The festival at Devghat Dham is expected to play a crucial role in this endeavor, bringing attention and visitors to the region.
