A 65-member tourism delegation led by Binayak Shah, President of the Hotel Association Nepal (HAN), has successfully concluded a tourism promotion visit to New Delhi, securing more than 25 service agreements with Indian tourism stakeholders.
The delegation organized a Nepal Tourism Promotion Programme alongside a series of business-to-business (B2B) meetings on Baishakh 15 and 16, aimed at attracting Indian tourists to Nepal during the summer season. The initiative focused on showcasing Nepal as a preferred destination offering cool weather, diverse travel products, and upgraded hospitality services.

Strong Participation from Indian Travel Industry
The programme was jointly organized with the support of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and the Embassy of Nepal in India. More than 100 Indian travel entrepreneurs participated in the event, engaging in direct business interactions with representatives from over 50 Nepali star hotels and resorts. According to organizers, the event created a dynamic platform for networking, partnership-building, and expanding cross-border travel opportunities.
Growing Interest in Diverse Tourism Segments
The Indian side expressed strong interest in multiple travel segments in Nepal, including destination weddings, wellness tourism, meetings and conferences (MICE), family holidays, trekking, and nature, culture, and adventure tourism.

Representatives from leading Indian organizations such as the Hotel Association of India, Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India, Tours and Travel Association of India, and the Indian Wedding Industry Association highlighted Nepal’s growing appeal as a versatile and accessible destination.

Nepal Positioned as Ideal Summer Escape
Participants noted that rising airfares and ongoing tensions in the Middle East have influenced travel preferences among Indian tourists. In this context, Nepal’s proximity, pleasant climate, and improving tourism infrastructure have made it an increasingly attractive option for summer vacation planning. Tour operators emphasized that Nepal offers a unique combination of affordability, natural beauty, and cultural richness, making it suitable for both leisure and specialized travel experiences.
Strengthening Bilateral Tourism Cooperation
Officials from the Hotel Association Nepal stated that the signing of more than 25 service agreements marks a significant step in strengthening travel cooperation between Nepal and India. These agreements are expected to facilitate smoother travel arrangements, joint promotional campaigns, and tailored travel packages for Indian visitors. The initiative also aligns with Nepal’s broader strategy to boost international tourist arrivals by focusing on key source markets like India.

The successful promotion programme in New Delhi underscores the growing collaboration between Nepali and Indian travel industries. With strong interest from Indian stakeholders and concrete agreements in place, Nepal is well-positioned to attract a larger number of Indian tourists, particularly during the summer season.
Industry experts believe that such targeted promotional efforts and partnerships will play a crucial role in enhancing Nepal’s visibility, strengthening regional travel ties, and driving sustainable growth in the hospitality sector.
