A helicopter crash near Bavdhan in Pune district, western India, on Wednesday morning, claimed the lives of all three individuals on board, according to fire control officials. The helicopter, operated by Heritage Aviation, was involved in the tragic incident, as confirmed by police and fire department authorities.
The crash occurred at approximately 6:45 a.m. local time, on the outskirts of Pune, southeast of Mumbai. According to officials, the helicopter burst into flames upon impact.
Chief Fire Officer Devendra Potphode informed reporters that the victims included two pilots and one engineer. “When we arrived at the scene, the helicopter was destroyed, with debris scattered around,” he said. The bodies of the three victims were recovered from the wreckage and handed over to the police.
Reports suggest that the helicopter was rented by the opposition Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and was en route to Mumbai at the time of the accident.
While the exact cause of the crash remains unknown, local media have speculated that dense fog in the area at the time of the incident may have contributed to the tragedy. Authorities are continuing to investigate the official cause of the accident.
