In a recent update on the helicopter crash in Nuwakot, it has been revealed that the aircraft lost contact with the control tower just three minutes after departing from Kathmandu.
According to a statement from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal at Tribhuvan International Airport, the helicopter went off the radar three minutes after it departed from Kathmandu. The crash occurred in the area of Surya Chaur, Shivpuri Rural Municipality-7.
The statement detailed that, following the loss of contact, the helicopter was confirmed to have crashed in the specified location. “Immediately upon receiving news of the crash, a rescue operation was initiated, and a helicopter from Prabhu Helicopters was dispatched to the crash site,” the statement read.
Police have reported that five people lost their lives in the accident. Of the deceased, four were Chinese nationals. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
