Himalaya Airlines Expands Global Reach with New Pokhara-Lhasa Flight Service

Himalaya Airlines has officially launched its international flight operations from Pokhara, marking a significant milestone in Nepal’s aviation sector. The airline commenced its Pokhara-Lhasa-Pokhara route from Monday, introducing a regular air link between the two destinations.

According to the company, the airline has obtained approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) to operate one flight per week on this route. The flight will be conducted using an Airbus A319 aircraft, which is set to land at Pokhara International Airport at 12:45 PM on Monday. The return flight to Lhasa is scheduled for Tuesday at 8:20 AM.

Himalaya Airlines has set the airfare for the Pokhara-Lhasa route at NPR 35,196, while the Lhasa-Pokhara fare is fixed at NPR 27,970. Additionally, passengers can avail of round-trip tickets for NPR 54,975 for Pokhara-Lhasa-Pokhara and NPR 51,037 for Lhasa-Pokhara-Lhasa services.

Vijay Shrestha, Vice President of Himalaya Airlines, expressed confidence in the preparedness of the airline for this new international route. “We are all set to commence our regular flights from Pokhara to Lhasa starting tomorrow. This is the first scheduled international flight from Pokhara, and we have ensured that all necessary arrangements are in place,” he stated.

Himalaya Airlines has been operating four weekly flights between Kathmandu and Lhasa, establishing a strong presence in the Nepal-Tibet aviation corridor. Meanwhile, Sichuan Airlines, a Chinese carrier, has also been operating a weekly commercial charter flight from Pokhara.

The introduction of this new route is expected to boost tourism and business connectivity between Nepal and Tibet, offering travelers a more convenient and direct air travel option from Pokhara.
