Himalayan Travel Mart 2026 Kicks Off in Lalitpur, Unlocking New Tourism Frontiers

The sixth edition of the Himalayan Travel Mart (HTM) 2026 has officially begun in Lalitpur from Monday, with the objective of promoting Nepal’s tourism sector on an international platform. The event has brought together more than 100 international delegates from 27 countries, including 75 global buyers and representatives from over 80 exhibiting organizations, highlighting strong global interest in Nepal’s tourism potential.

Organized by the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Nepal Chapter, this year’s theme is “New Frontiers in Tourism.” The mart aims to strengthen business linkages between Nepalese tourism entrepreneurs and international buyers, while also exploring emerging trends and opportunities in the global tourism industry.

Focus on Sustainable and Experience-Based Tourism

Speaking at the inaugural session, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PATA Nepal Chapter, Suresh Singh Budal, emphasized that the global tourism industry is undergoing rapid transformation. He stated that Nepal must seize the growing demand for sustainable, regenerative, wellness-based, and authentic travel experiences.

HTM Insight Forum Introduced for Deeper Engagement

CEO Budal also informed that the traditional one-day conference format has been restructured this year with the introduction of the HTM Insight Forum. The forum is designed to create a platform for deeper dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collaboration among tourism stakeholders.
