The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) experienced a double-digit loss in today’s session, dropping by 25.41 points (0.96%) to close at 2,609.67. This decline follows a previous loss of 18.14 points (0.68%) in the earlier session.
The trading session was marred by significant technical issues within the NEPSE system, leading to delays in order placements. A major concern was that NEPSE failed to issue any notice regarding the malfunction, leaving traders unaware of the system glitch. The disruption in the NEPSE Trading Management System (TMS) contributed to a notably low turnover for the day.
Opening at 2,651.68, the NEPSE index saw fluctuations throughout the session, reaching an intraday high of 2,654.82 and a low of 2,602.46.
The Hotel and Tourism Index also faced a significant decline, falling by 51.87 points (0.77%) to close at 6,644.47. This comes after the index saw a notable gain of 66.29 points in the previous session. The index opened at 6,696.36 and fluctuated between an intraday high of 6,702.26 and a low of 6,592.51.
