With the growth of the tourism industry, hotel investments are on the rise in Baglung. The increasing flow of both domestic and international tourists has encouraged entrepreneurs to develop high-standard hospitality services in the district.
A major milestone in this trend is the recent launch of Hotel Ila Comfort, a luxury hotel built for NPR 300 million. Operated by renowned entrepreneur Chandra Prasad Dhakal, the hotel features 31 modern rooms and stands as the first hotel in Baglung developed under international standards through IME Group.
The hotel primarily targets VIP and VVIP tourists visiting the district. Dhakal noted that the rising popularity of local attractions, such as Baglung Kalika Temple, the world’s second-longest suspension bridge, the bungy bridge, Panchakot, and the Shaligram Museum, has significantly boosted hotel occupancy, inspiring further investment in the sector.
According to Dhakal, who also serves as the President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), the hotel name ‘Ila Comfort’ reflects its commitment to international quality. “The hotel includes ample parking facilities and is expected to benefit from tourist traffic heading towards the Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve and via Mid-Hill Highway,” he added.
Investment in Hotel Increase in Baglung
Another recent addition to Baglung’s hospitality scene is Hotel Sheetal, a 24-room facility established with a NPR 20 million investment. It was launched by Tal Bahadur Kunwar, a former teacher from Resh, Kathekhola Rural Municipality–7. With over 20 years of experience in the hotel industry, Kunwar now operates from Uppalachaur, Baglung Municipality–4, offering upgraded services in a five-storey building. He shared that he started his venture from a small home-based business, gradually expanding it into a well-equipped hotel. The current premises alone have a monthly rental cost of NPR 100,000.
Similarly, Basanta Kumar Shrestha, who is also the Mayor of Baglung Municipality, has opened Hotel Red Apple in Uppalachaur. Built on his land, the hotel was launched to address frequent tourist complaints about the lack of quality accommodation in the district.
With the emergence of internationally-standard hotels, foreign visitors now find Baglung a more comfortable stopover, especially for those en route to Mustang. Over the past five years, other prominent hotels like Hotel the Rajan, Sagun Hotel, and Kalika Multipalace near the Kalika Temple gate have also begun operations, strengthening Baglung’s position as a growing tourism hub.
