In a significant development poised to redefine Kathmandu’s premium hospitality sector, Hotel Sabrina Limited has officially signed a management agreement with a leading European hotel chain. The announcement, made in Baisakh 2083 (April/May 2026), signals a strategic shift aimed at transforming the boutique property into an internationally branded five-star luxury destination.
The partnership comes alongside the hotel’s ambitious expansion plan valued at NPR 2 billion (NPR 2 arba), marking one of the most notable private-sector investments in Nepal’s hospitality industry in recent years. Industry observers view this move as a strong indicator of growing confidence in Nepal’s high-end tourism and business travel market.

Expansion Plan Focused on Global Luxury Standards
Under the new management framework, Hotel Sabrina will undergo a comprehensive transformation designed to align with global five-star hospitality benchmarks while retaining its signature Nepali service identity. A key highlight of the redevelopment is the expansion of room capacity to 110 keys, nearly doubling its current inventory. This increase is expected to significantly enhance the hotel’s ability to host international tourists, diplomatic delegations, and corporate travelers visiting the capital.
The upgraded property will also feature three standalone restaurants, offering diverse international cuisines, alongside a flagship rooftop dining venue that will become one of Kathmandu’s largest premium hospitality spaces. The rooftop outlet is expected to operate under an internationally recognized franchise, further strengthening the hotel’s global appeal.
Strong Financial Backing from Leading Institutions
The large-scale expansion is being financed through a structured investment model combining equity and bank financing. According to project details, NPR 1.13 billion has been raised in equity, while NPR 870 million has been secured through lending support from Everest Bank.

This blended financing structure reflects growing investor confidence in Nepal’s tourism infrastructure sector. Financial analysts suggest that such large-scale hospitality investments are increasingly being viewed as long-term assets, particularly as Nepal continues to recover and expand its international tourist arrivals.
Budhanilkantha Emerging as a Luxury Hospitality Hub
Located in the tranquil surroundings near the foothills of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park, Hotel Sabrina has rapidly established itself as a rising name in Kathmandu’s hospitality landscape. The property lies within the Budhanilkantha area, which has been gaining popularity among high-end travelers seeking a quieter and more scenic alternative to the city’s central districts.
Since its establishment in 2019, the Sabrina hotel has earned multiple recognitions, including the “Best Hotel in Nepal” award in 2021 from international booking platforms. Its blend of modern architecture and natural surroundings has positioned it as a preferred destination for boutique luxury stays.

A representative from Hotel Sabrina Limited stated that the management agreement represents more than a branding exercise. “This partnership is about elevating service quality and introducing international operational standards to Budhanilkantha. We are preparing for a new era of global hospitality in Nepal,” the representative said.
Strategic Shift Toward MICE and Premium Tourism
With the management agreement in place, Hotel Sabrina is expected to reposition itself to capture a larger share of the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) market. This segment has been identified as a key growth driver for Nepal’s tourism industry, particularly in Kathmandu, where demand for high-quality conference facilities is rising.
The hotel’s upgraded infrastructure, expanded capacity, and international branding are expected to make it more competitive in attracting business events, corporate retreats, and international summits. Industry stakeholders believe this transition could help strengthen Nepal’s image as a viable destination for premium business tourism.

Public Investment and Future Outlook
In addition to its expansion and branding strategy, the hotel has also taken steps toward inclusive financial participation. It previously appointed NIC Asia Capital to manage a public share issuance worth NPR 474 million, ensuring that local investors can participate in its long-term growth trajectory.
The management transition and physical upgrade are expected to be completed within the next year. Once operational under the new European brand identity, Hotel Sabrina is projected to become one of Kathmandu’s leading luxury hospitality destinations, setting new benchmarks for service excellence and international collaboration in Nepal’s hotel industry.
