The Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association Nepal (HSMAN) has elected Robinson Maharjan as its president for the upcoming term during its First Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Saturday at Sarasadan Boutique Hotel in Kathmandu. The new executive committee includes Sanjeev Tuladhar as vice-president, Dipak Pokhrel as general secretary, Ganesh Budhathoki as secretary and Prabha Ghising as treasurer. Four members have also been included in the committee.
The AGM was organised under the theme “Connecting Hospitality Professionals, Creating Opportunities,” to strengthen professional networking, promote collaboration, and creating new business opportunities in Nepal’s hospitality and tourism sectors.

HSMAN Reports 100 General Members in Its First Year
Presenting the annual progress report, General Secretary Dipak Pokhrel said the association had made progress in building its organisational structure, expanding membership and establishing its institutional identity during the fiscal year 2082/83. According to the report, HSMAN has enrolled 100 general members in its first year. The association has also launched its official website to improve access to organisational information, membership services, programmes and activities.
Pokhrel highlighted the organisation of the 5th Sales Meet 2026 as one of the association’s key achievements. The event brought together sales, marketing and tourism professionals from the hotel and hospitality industries, providing a platform for experience-sharing, professional networking and identifying potential business opportunities. The association has also conducted meet-and-greet and networking activities to strengthen relationships among hotels, travel trade representatives, tourism entrepreneurs and other hospitality stakeholders.

Focus on Training, Networking and Professional Development
HSMAN aims to expand its activities in the coming year, with a focus on professional development and business collaboration. Planned initiatives include training programmes on hotel sales, digital marketing, revenue management, corporate sales, customer relationship management and business development. The association also plans to organise tourism meet-ups, workshops, networking programmes and social service activities while developing an annual calendar of events.
Pokhrel acknowledged that increasing member participation, securing financial resources for regular programmes and ensuring the organisation’s long-term sustainability remain important challenges. He expressed the association’s commitment to building a more active, transparent and professionally managed organisation.

Bagmati Province Official Attends as Chief Guest
Dipendra Subedi, provincial secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Labour and Transport of the Bagmati Province Government, attended the AGM as the chief guest. Subedi serves in the ministry’s culture and tourism sector, where his responsibilities include policy and programme implementation, tourism infrastructure and promotion, tourism transport management, administrative coordination, and collaboration with tourism businesses and stakeholders.
The programme also brought together representatives of tourism and hospitality associations, industry professionals, HSMAN advisers, members and media representatives. Among the invited representatives were Bharat Jung Pandey, president of the Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA); Saroj Ale Magar, chairman of the Ekata Hotel and Guest House Entrepreneurs Association; and representatives of the District Hotel Business Association Kathmandu, including Suresh Baral and secretary Anish Baniya.

Annual Reports and Institutional Priorities
During the formal session, the association presented its annual progress report and financial report. The treasurer, Ganesh Budhathoki, presented the financial statement covering the organisation’s income, expenditure, financial position and related activities. The closed session was scheduled to discuss and approve the annual progress report, financial report and audit report, along with matters related to membership, the previous meeting’s decisions and the association’s future work plan.
The agenda also included the formation of an election committee and the selection of the new executive committee for the upcoming term. HSMAN plans to strengthen its role as a common platform for sales, marketing, and business development professionals working in hotels, resorts, tourism, and hospitality businesses.
Through professional networking, knowledge-sharing and industry collaboration, the association aims to help members expand their business connections and identify new opportunities. The association has reiterated its commitment to connecting hospitality professionals, strengthening sales and marketing practices and contributing to the development of Nepal’s hospitality industry.
