In a significant boost to western Nepal’s hospitality and tourism sector, the city of Butwal has officially welcomed its first-ever five-star luxury hotel, Hyatt Place Butwal. The grand opening marks a milestone in the region’s commercial development, following a Rs 3.5 billion investment despite multiple delays triggered by the economic slowdown during the COVID-19 pandemic.
A Five-Year Vision Realized
Hyatt Place Butwal stands as the culmination of five years of dedicated work and represents a new chapter in the city’s transformation into a modern business and tourism hub. Spanning 8,465.75 square meters (25 kattha), the hotel features a striking architectural structure with two underground floors for parking and ten floors above ground.

According to Chunna Prasad Poudel, Chairman of the hotel’s Operations Committee, the property offers 109 elegantly designed rooms across six categories, ensuring a premium experience tailored to diverse guest needs. The hotel can comfortably host up to 250 guests at a time.
World-Class Facilities for Business and Leisure
Hyatt Place Butwal offers a wide array of high-end amenities crafted to cater to both leisure travelers and corporate visitors. These include:
- A multi-cuisine restaurant serving global and local delicacies
- A modern swimming pool
- A spacious banquet hall suitable for weddings, events, and gatherings
- An on-site casino for entertainment
- A rejuvenating spa
- Four fully equipped seminar halls designed for business meetings, conferences, and corporate events
Combined, these facilities position the hotel as one of western Nepal’s most comprehensive hospitality destinations.
Architecture Inspired by Heritage and Modernity
Chairman Poudel highlighted that the hotel’s architectural design seamlessly blends contemporary global hospitality standards with elements of traditional Nepali art and culture. The design also reflects the spiritual and cultural influence of Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, located just a short distance away. This approach aims to offer guests a space that is both luxurious and deeply connected to the region’s cultural heritage.
A Global Brand with Local Commitment
Hyatt Place, launched in 2006, has expanded to more than 420 locations worldwide, known for its smartly designed guest rooms featuring zones for sleeping, working, and relaxing. The brand’s entry into Butwal marks a new milestone for Nepal’s hospitality sector.
The hotel is developed and operated with backing from the Yashoda Foods Group, a prominent business house in Rupandehi, along with key investors including Chunnu Prasad Poudel, Kamal Kishore Malpani, Narishwar Sharma Poudel, Bhumi Raj Poudel, Shravan Beriwal, and Rekha Malpani.

Strategic Location for Tourism and International Events
Hyatt Place Butwal enjoys a strong strategic advantage due to its proximity to major transit and tourism centers. The hotel is located:
- 24 km from Bhairahawa International Airport
- 26 km from the Nepal–India border at Sunauli
Furthermore, it sits directly opposite the proposed Butwal Mandap, next to an upcoming International Conference and Exhibition Center with a capacity to host 10,000 participants. This positioning is expected to make Butwal a major venue for national and international conferences, exhibitions, and large-scale events.
Boost to Local Economy and Tourism Prospects
The inauguration of Hyatt Place Butwal is expected to deliver wide-ranging economic benefits. In addition to creating new jobs and enhancing hospitality standards, the project is anticipated to attract further domestic and foreign investment, driving Butwal’s emergence as a prominent destination for tourism, business, and events. Local stakeholders believe the hotel will play a transformative role in positioning Butwal and the greater western region on the global tourism map.
