Inauguration of Modern Police Station Building at Muktinath

A state-of-the-art police station building has been constructed at Muktinath, located in the Waragung Muktichhetra of Mustang, standing at an elevation of over 3,000 meters above sea level.

The new facility, situated near the Muktinath Temple, was built at Rs. 36,052,888. The Gandaki Provincial Police Office constructed the three-story building on five ropanis and three annas of land with financial support from the Gandaki Provincial Government. The facility includes a barracks building, a kitchen, and toilet facilities. Previously, the police office was operating from four rooms of an old Dharamshala in Ranipauwa.

To enhance security in the Ranipauwa area, the police office will now operate from this newly constructed building, according to Bhojraj Pandey, Deputy Superintendent of Police and Chief of the Mustang District Police Office. The Muktinath Police Station is staffed by 13 officers under the leadership of an Inspector.

The ground floor of the accessible building features five rooms designated for office use, with separate barracks for male and female staff on the first floor. Additionally, the ground floor includes detention facilities with separate cells for men and women, while the upper floor houses the office head’s residence, a communications office, and barracks.

Gandaki Province Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey officially inaugurated the building on Wednesday. During the inauguration, he highlighted that the new facility would facilitate the police in maintaining peace and security for pilgrims, tourists, and locals visiting Muktinath. He also noted that the provincial government has been supporting security agencies by providing physical infrastructure, rescue materials, and equipment to enhance their capabilities.
