Increased Visitors at Tato Pani Kund: A Natural Healing Destination

The number of patients and visitors bathing at the Tato Pani Kund in Beni Municipality-4 has seen a significant increase recently. Currently, an average of 200 people, including patients and general visitors, are visiting the site daily for its therapeutic hot springs.

According to Krishna Bahadur Khadka, chairman of the Tato Pani Kund Management Committee, the increase in visitors coincides with the Dashain festival. “Since October 15, we have been receiving about 200 patients and tourists daily,” Khadka stated.

To accommodate the rising number of bathers, arrangements have been made for group bathing for men and women in designated time slots for three hours each day starting today. The main pool can accommodate a maximum of 400 individuals at once, while a separate pool has been constructed outside the main kund for those who wish to bathe for a shorter duration.

The natural hot springs, which emit water at temperatures exceeding 50 degrees Celsius and have a distinctive birenun scent, are believed to offer relief from various ailments. Visitors come to treat conditions such as arthritis, skin allergies, wounds, and even paralysis, among others. In recent times, patients who have not found relief from various hospitals across the country are also beginning to frequent the site. The evening prayers held every Monday have further attracted patients seeking healing.

To access the main pool, a ticket costing NPR 350 is required, allowing individuals to bathe according to a scheduled rotation for up to a week. Alternatively, the separate pool outside charges NPR 100 for two hours of bathing.

The revenue generated from Tato Pani Kund is allocated for the construction of facilities within the kund complex, staff management, and covering the salaries and allowances for five teachers at the local Saraswati Secondary School, with 25% of the income going to the municipality.

Annually, more than 20,000 patients visit Tato Pani Kund. Discovered in 1985, the hot spring has been preserved and managed by local residents, establishing it as a natural treatment center renowned for its healing properties.
