To improve the visitor experience, Khopra Lake in Annapurna Rural Municipality-5, a popular tourist destination, has started building infrastructure. Through a local consumer committee, the Tourism and Industry Office has started the project with NPR 2 million from the Gandaki Provincial Government. The project is expected to be finished by the middle of July and includes drinking water facilities, trails, and shelters.

Progress has been sluggish because of the remote location and weather conditions, such as snow and afternoon rain. To continue construction, Paudwar village workers are remaining on the site. At 3,600 meters above sea level, Khopra is part of the Annapurna Conservation Area and provides views of the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Gurja Himal in addition to natural features like lakes, waterfalls, forests, and wildlife.

Khopra is being developed as an alternate destination as part of the Annapurna Circuit’s efforts to increase visitor stays. To increase the capacity of the local community-run tourism cooperative, a new lodge building is being built.
