Infrastructure Development in Six Tourist Sites of Mustang

Significant infrastructure developments have been completed in six tourist sites in Mustang, funded by the Gandaki Province government’s budget. The Tourism and Industry Office of Mustang, led by Prem Prasad Paudel, has successfully executed plans resulting in the construction of a two-kilometer trekking trail.

With an allocated budget of NPR 8 million, six projects have been completed to extend tourist stays and enhance the beauty and maintenance of religious sites in Mustang. In Marpha village, Gharapjhong Rural Municipality-2, NPR 3 million was invested in constructing a stone staircase connecting Hisarung Monastery and the Apple Garden, with streetlights installed along the trail for nighttime illumination.

A new trekking trail has been built through the cliffs of Thasang Rural Municipality, connecting Kunjho and Lete, following the displacement of the old route due to the Beni-Jomsom road construction. This 500-meter trail involved drilling through the mountain and installing iron rods and retaining walls.

Additionally, a cycling route from Kalopani to Syakubra in Thasang Rural Municipality has been developed, allowing for the observation of endangered wildlife and birds like the pheasant and munal. The 600-meter route, built with NPR 1 million, includes concrete, soling, and gravel paving.

An NPR 1 million budget has established a tourist information center at Jomsom Airport. Another NPR 1 million each was allocated for constructing a mani wall in Thinger, Lomanthang Rural Municipality-3, a 200-meter trail from Lomanthang to Dhiki, and maintenance of Nakpa Monastery.

For the fiscal year 2081/82, the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest, and Environment of the provincial government has allocated NPR 21.5 million for 11 tourist infrastructure projects in Mustang. These developments aim to enhance the tourism experience in Mustang, ensuring visitors can explore the region’s cultural and natural beauty with improved facilities.
