A 58-year-old Japanese tourist, Mitsugu Shishido, was rescued after sustaining injuries in the Sagarmatha (Everest) region, Solukhumbu. The incident occurred when Shishido fell while trekking in Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality-4, Khumjung, as confirmed by the District Police Office, Solukhumbu.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dwarika Prasad Ghimire, Shishido, who was exploring the Khumbu area, slipped around 3 p.m. on Thursday. The tourist lost his way while returning from Khumbila Pass after visiting Chhukung in the evening. The rescue operation involved both local authorities and the police, who found Shishido approximately 10 meters down from the trail.
“Mr. Shishido sustained minor injuries to his head, face, and leg. We brought him to Dingboche Clinic, where he received treatment and is now recovering well,” DSP Ghimire reported. The tourist is expected to return to Kathmandu soon after his recovery.
As peak tourist season continues, Everest National Park officials in Namche noted an increased number of tourists exiting the area as temperatures drop, according to Chief Conservation Officer Sushma Rana.
