Integrated Checkpoint Launched at Kalidaha Border for Lumbini-bound Tourists

An integrated checkpoint has been launched at the Kalidaha border, the nearest route for tourists traveling by land to Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha. The checkpoint, located at Kalidaha-13 in the Lumbini Cultural Municipality of Rupandehi, aims to streamline the entry process for tourists.

This new facility, operated by the District Administration Office of Rupandehi, will be primarily managed by the Armed Police Force, ensuring security for travelers entering Nepal. The decision to establish the checkpoint follows complaints from tourists who faced difficulties due to multiple inspections at various locations along their journey. Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal highlighted that the integrated checkpoint will address these issues, welcoming tourists to a peaceful and secure environment in both Rupandehi and the country as a whole.

According to Aryal, the checkpoint will consolidate inspections by customs, Nepal Police, Armed Police, and traffic police. Tourists entering the district will be issued a joint security clearance card, eliminating the need for unnecessary inspections at other locations. However, Aryal noted that security personnel will still conduct checks if any suspicious activity arises.

Mayor Sajaruddin Musalman expressed confidence that the new checkpoint would enhance the local tourism environment, while Deputy Mayor Kalpana Harijan assured that the previous inconveniences caused by multiple inspections would no longer affect tourists.

The checkpoint was inaugurated by Mayor Musalman, Deputy Mayor Harijan, Chief District Officer Aryal, and other officials. This development follows the recent opening of another integrated checkpoint at the Belahiya border in Rupandehi just a month earlier.
