On Kartik 02, 2081 B.S., the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) hosted an interaction program with the newly elected leadership of the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) Gandaki. The program, held at ACAP’s headquarters, was organized to welcome and honor the new committee members of TAAN Gandaki, led by Chairman Krishna Prasad Acharya.
During the event, the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC) discussed the recently introduced online trekking permit system. This system allows trekkers to obtain permits online, but there have been concerns regarding its implementation. Chairman Acharya, speaking on behalf of TAAN Gandaki, raised several key issues about the process. He highlighted the procedural complications faced by trekkers when using the online system and expressed concerns about the safety challenges for solo trekkers. He also addressed other contemporary matters affecting the trekking industry.

In response, Dr. Rabin Kadariya, Chief of the Annapurna Conservation Area Project, provided an overview of ACAP’s key achievements and ongoing initiatives. He also discussed the current challenges and issues faced by ACAP, including the complications in managing such a vast and popular trekking region.
The interaction program served as a platform for both ACAP and TAAN Gandaki to share their concerns, explore solutions, and enhance cooperation for the development of trekking in the Annapurna region. The conversation emphasized the need for better coordination and more streamlined processes to ensure the safety and satisfaction of both trekkers and the trekking industry as a whole.
