International Mountain Museum in Pokhara Sees Surge in Tourist Numbers in 2024

The number of foreign tourists visiting the International Mountain Museum in Pokhara, Nepal’s tourist capital, has increased compared to the previous year.

In 2023, a total of 19,119 foreign tourists (excluding SAARC countries) visited the museum, which rose to 22,470 in 2024. Executive Director Nirmala Neupane shared that the museum houses materials vividly depicting various aspects of mountain tourism.

For foreign tourists, the entrance fee is set at Rs. 750 per person, Rs. 350 for SAARC nationals, Rs. 150 for other Nepali citizens, and Rs. 80 for students. Neupane added that both domestic and foreign tourist arrivals to the museum are on the rise, with a total of 95,862 visitors recorded in 2024. The museum is becoming a significant destination for tourists visiting Pokhara.

The museum showcases various activities related to the Himalayas and mountain life, including information on the customs, attire, art, culture, and geography of the communities residing in those regions.
