The 5th edition of the Eastern Travel Mart began on 25th February 2025 (2081-11-25) in Itahari, Sunsari District. The event was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Hikmat Kumar Karki.
In his address, Chief Minister Karki emphasized the significance and opportunities this event brings to the tourism sector of the province. He also announced that the provincial government has declared 2082 as the Koshi Visit Year, aiming to maximize the tourism potential of the region.
Mr. Hikmat Singh Ayer, officiating CEO of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), expressed continued support for the event in the future. He urged the private sector to collaborate and push the public sector for more frequent events like this to boost tourism. The mart has attracted around 60 travel trade participants and media representatives from Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, India, and Bhutan.
The event will feature panel discussions on the province’s tourism, business networking sessions, and product observation visits, and is set to conclude on 27th February 2025 (27th Falgun 2081).
