In honor of the holy Janaki Birth Anniversary, the Janaki Temple in Janakpurdham began official events on Monday. Mahantha Ram Roshan Das, the temple’s successor, announced that the Janaki Temple’s program will begin today with a daily Ram Katha (recitation of the story of Lord Ram) at 4 PM and cultural events and congratulatory songs in the sanctum sanctorum at 7 PM. Additionally, the Ramayana will be regularly recited without interruption.
A royal ceremonial bath (Shahi Snan) of Goddess Janaki will be conducted at the Dudhmati River beginning at 5 AM from the Janaki Temple on Baisakh 23 (Tuesday), the main day of the birth anniversary. A birth prayer and congratulatory song ceremony will take place at noon on the same day. At 4 PM, there will be a procession (Dola Shobha Yatra), and at 7 PM, there will be a special Aarti and Deepotsav (festival of lights).
Every evening at 7 PM, birth celebration songs are sung inside the sanctum sanctorum of the Janaki Temple from the anniversary of her’s birth until the Chhathihar festival. A Matkor ceremony, a traditional ritual, will be held in Janakpurdham for collective worship on Baisakh 24. On Baisakh 25, the Sita-Ram Wedding Festival will be celebrated with religious and cultural songs, according to the temple management committee.
Das, the successor, has been informed that Manas Mohini Sadhya Devi will host a special Ram Katha recitation program on the same day. He claims that huge plans have been made to hold lavish celebrations in Janakpurdham to mark the anniversary of it’s birth.
