Winter patrolling in Upper Mustang is essential for safeguarding high-altitude wildlife and their habitats, especially during the harsh winter when animals become more vulnerable to poaching and habitat disturbances.

A joint patrolling effort was successfully conducted in the northern part of the Chhonup CAMC area by officials from Nepal Police and the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP). This initiative aimed to prevent illegal wildlife activities, monitor habitat conditions, identify high-risk areas, and gather research insights to support future conservation efforts.

By assessing the impact of extreme weather and human activities on the ecosystem, the team was able to detect potential threats such as poaching hotspots and habitat degradation. The patrolling not only ensured the protection of wildlife but also provided valuable data for habitat restoration strategies, reinforcing the importance of collaborative conservation efforts in high-altitude regions.
