Kafle Danda, located close to Bhojpur district headquarters, is gradually being developed as a new tourist destination with the aim of attracting both domestic and international visitors. The site falls under Bhojpur Municipality–9, where continuous efforts are underway to conserve the area and build essential tourism infrastructure, according to Ward Chairperson Ram Bahadur Tamang.
Situated within close proximity to the district headquarters, Kafle Danda holds significant potential as a recreational and sightseeing spot. Recognizing this opportunity, the local ward office, in coordination with the provincial government, has initiated infrastructure development to enhance accessibility, safety, and visitor experience.

Investment and Infrastructure Construction
A total budget of NPR 1.6 million has been invested in the development of Kafle Danda so far. Of this, NPR 600,000 was allocated by the ward office, while NPR 1 million was provided by the provincial government. With this budget, several key structures have been constructed, including pedestrian pathways with railings on both sides, drinking water taps, public toilets, and a picnic spot.
“We are developing Kafle Danda as a well-managed tourist destination,” said Ward Chairperson Tamang. “The place is not only naturally beautiful, but its location near the district headquarters makes it highly accessible and attractive for visitors. Keeping this in mind, we have built as many necessary structures as our available resources allowed.”
The newly constructed walking trails with protective railings have made the area safer and more convenient for visitors of all age groups. Basic facilities such as drinking water and sanitation have further added to the comfort of tourists, while the picnic area has created a welcoming space for families and groups.
Plans for Further Enhancement
To continue the development momentum, the ward has allocated an additional NPR 150,000 in the current fiscal year for further construction works. According to Chairperson Tamang, future plans include installing a statue of Lord Buddha and extending railings on both sides of the hill to create a fully secured pedestrian route.
“These additional structures will help make Kafle Danda even more attractive and safer for visitors,” he said. However, he also acknowledged that some planned works remain incomplete due to budget constraints. Despite financial limitations, the local government remains committed to gradually upgrading the site using available resources and seeking additional support in the future.
Growing Tourist Footfall
Kafle Danda has already started gaining popularity among locals and visitors. From the hilltop, one can enjoy panoramic views of Bhojpur Bazaar, surrounding settlements, lush green forests, and even distant Himalayan ranges on clear days. This scenic advantage has made the spot increasingly popular for sightseeing, photography, and short recreational trips.
Local residents report that the number of visitors has been steadily increasing, with people visiting the site almost daily. The crowd becomes particularly noticeable during public holidays, the Nepali New Year, and the flowering seasons, when the natural beauty of the area is at its peak.
Young people, families, and photography enthusiasts are among the frequent visitors, drawn by the tranquil environment and easy accessibility. The growing footfall reflects the site’s potential to become a key leisure destination within Bhojpur.
Potential Economic Benefits
Tourism entrepreneurs and local stakeholders believe that effective management and proper promotion of Kafle Danda could bring direct economic benefits to the local community. Increased tourist activity could create opportunities for small businesses such as tea shops, local eateries, homestays, and guiding services.
“If managed and promoted properly, Kafle Danda can contribute significantly to the local economy,” said a local tourism entrepreneur. “It can create employment opportunities and encourage visitors to spend more time in Bhojpur.”

Stakeholders emphasize the need for coordinated efforts between local government, tourism offices, and the community to ensure sustainable development. Proper waste management, environmental conservation, and responsible tourism practices are also seen as crucial to preserving the natural charm of the area.
With ongoing infrastructure development and growing public interest, Kafle Danda is emerging as a promising tourist destination in Bhojpur. While challenges such as limited funding remain, local authorities are optimistic that phased development and increased recognition will help unlock the site’s full potential. As efforts continue, Kafle Danda stands as an example of how local initiatives can transform natural viewpoints into organized tourism assets, contributing both to visitor satisfaction and local development.
