A Shiva Puran Mahayagya has been planned in honor of Visit Nepal Year 2082 in order to promote religious tourism and construct the Kalpeshwar Dham, which features a statue of Lord Kalpeshwar Mahadev that is 108 feet tall. NPR has raised $6 million for the project thus far.
The statue and surrounding religious structures are being built in Changu Narayan Municipality-8, Kalamasi, as part of the Mahayagya, which began on the 2nd of Baishakh. The event will go on until Baishakh 13th. The ward chairman and coordinator of the Mahayagya organizing committee, Janak Khatri, claims that NPR 6 million has already been raised.
In a 60-ropeni area in Kalamasi, the event’s main goal is to build a statue of Lord Mahadeva encircled by 1,008 Shivalinga and other religious structures. To create the Shivalinga, NPR is asking for donations, each of which will cost $35,000. 71 people have made contributions to the cause thus far.
In keeping with the goals of Visit Nepal Year, Changu Narayan Municipality Mayor Jivan Khatri underlined the importance of this Mahayagya in fostering religious tourism in the region. The 108-foot-tall Mahadev statue is expected to cost about NPR 20 million to build. Near the Nagarkot View Tower, which provides picturesque views of the Kathmandu Valley, Kavre, Banepa, and Dhulikhel, is the Kalpeshwar Mahadeva Temple.
Along with other temples like the Balakumari Temple, Saraswati Temple, and the well-known Manikarnika Dham, Kalamasi is also home to a number of sacred locations, including Nag Kunda, Gosain Kunda, 27 Dhara, and Narayan Kunda.
