Koshi Province to Host ‘Kora Ride Cycling Challenge’ to Boost Tourism Promotion

A ‘Kora Ride Cycling Challenge’ is set to be organized in Dharan on Shrawan 2 to promote tourism across Koshi Province and support the ongoing ‘Koshi Province Tourism Year’ campaign. The event is being organized by Pedalers Dharan Mountain Biking Club, which announced the programme during a press conference held today.

Kora Ride Cycling Challenge to Promote Sustainable Tourism

According to Kishan Maskey, president of the club, the Kora Ride Cycling Challenge event aims to promote the province’s natural, cultural, religious, and tourism assets through cycling. The organizers believe cycling can play an important role in promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly tourism while encouraging visitors to explore diverse destinations across the region. The event is also expected to promote active tourism and highlight Dharan as a destination that combines adventure, culture, spirituality, and natural attractions.

30-Kilometre Ride to Start from Bhanuchowk

According to event coordinator Bijay Shrestha, the 30-kilometre cycling ride will begin at 6:00 a.m. from Bhanuchowk on Shrawan 2. The route will take cyclists through several major cultural, religious, urban, and natural landmarks of Dharan. The cycling route will pass through Bhote Pul, Dhankuta Road, Buddhachowk, Ghopa Gate, Depot School Line, Indreni Chowk, Railway Chowk, Ratna Chowk, Mangalbare, Vaishno Devi Temple, Dharan Stadium, Janaki Chowk, Zero Point, Fusre Sainik School, Vijaypur Chowk, Panchakanya Path, Budhasubba Temple Chowk, Dantakali Temple, Pindeshwar Temple, Adarsha Chowk, Vintage Family Resort, and Tallo Deurali Chowk.

From there, participants will continue along the Dharan–Dhankuta Highway, passing through the Char Kose Jhaadi forest, Tin Kune, and surrounding areas before reaching Langhali Community Park in Dharan-8, where the ride will conclude.

More Than 300 Cyclists Expected

Club President Maskey said that more than 300 cyclists are expected to participate in the Kora Ride. Cyclists from Sunsari, Jhapa, Morang, and other districts are expected to join the event. The participation of cyclists from different parts of eastern Nepal is expected to contribute to greater visibility for Dharan and other tourism destinations in Koshi Province.

The organizers said the event is being held as part of efforts to strengthen the Koshi Province Tourism Year campaign. By connecting religious sites, cultural landmarks, forest areas, urban destinations, and community-based tourism sites through a single cycling route, the event aims to demonstrate the diversity of tourism experiences available in the province.

The organizers believe such activities can help attract domestic and international visitors while encouraging sustainable forms of travel.
