Lalitpur Metropolitan City has initiated the restoration of an ancient water spout, known locally as Jaruṅhitī, situated in Jawalakhel. This restoration effort marks a significant milestone in preserving cultural heritage, undertaken in collaboration with the local community.
The historic water spout, believed to date back over four centuries, has undergone extensive rehabilitation under the joint supervision of the metropolitan municipality and community leaders. Vinod Tamrakar, President of the Tamrakar Society, highlighted the successful restoration efforts, which now include modern RO purification technology to manage water flow automatically.
Santosh Khadka, Ward Chairperson of Lalitpur-4, expressed satisfaction with the revitalization of Jaruṅhitī, emphasizing its cultural significance. He stressed the importance of safeguarding such historical landmarks for future generations and praised the enhanced accessibility of purified water post-restoration.
