Landslide Blocks Diktel-Halesi Road, Disrupting Tourism and Travel

A landslide has obstructed the Diktel-Halesi road section of the Mid-Hill Highway since this morning, causing significant disruptions to travel and tourism in the region. The landslide occurred at Nagi, located in Halesi Tuwachung Municipality-10, effectively halting vehicular movement along this crucial route.

Mayor Bimala Rai reported that efforts have been ongoing since the morning to clear the debris and reopen the road. However, she cautioned that it may take some time to fully restore the road, as landslides are still occurring in the area.

The road blockage has left many passengers, particularly those traveling from the eastern Tarai region towards Kathmandu, stranded. This road section is vital for tourists and locals alike, as it connects key destinations, including the pilgrimage site of Halesi Mahadev Temple, a popular spot for both domestic and international tourists.

The disruption is expected to impact the flow of tourists to the region, highlighting the need for prompt road maintenance and landslide mitigation efforts to ensure safe and reliable access to these important tourist destinations. Local authorities are working diligently to clear the road and minimize the impact on travel and tourism in the area.
