A landslide triggered by incessant rainfall has obstructed the Dumre-Besisahar road, a key route for travelers, particularly those heading to popular tourist destinations like Manang, Pokhara, and Chitwan. The landslide occurred this morning at Udipur in Besisahar Municipality-1, blocking the road and leaving numerous vehicles stranded, according to Thaneshwar Chapain, the Information Officer at the District Police Office in Lamjung.
The landslide has deposited a significant amount of mud and rocks on the road, making it challenging to clear the debris, especially with the continuous rainfall hampering efforts. The Dumre-Besisahar road is a vital link not only for residents but also for tourists and travelers heading towards Tanahun, Kathmandu, and beyond. The obstruction has severely disrupted the movement of vehicles, causing delays and inconvenience to both locals and tourists.
This route is especially crucial for travelers to Manang, a major trekking destination in Nepal. The landslide’s impact on this roadway is a significant setback for tourism in the region, particularly during the peak travel season. The frequent occurrence of landslides at this location over the past three years has raised concerns about the road’s stability and safety, highlighting the need for long-term solutions to ensure uninterrupted travel for locals and visitors alike.
Authorities are working to clear the debris and restore the road, but with the ongoing rainfall, it remains uncertain when the route will be fully operational again. Tourists planning to visit the affected areas are advised to stay updated on the road conditions and consider alternative routes if necessary.
