The Kanti Lokpath road, a vital route connecting Hetauda and Kathmandu, has been obstructed due to landslides triggered by heavy rainfall. The landslide occurred at Lamrang in Bakaiya Rural Municipality-11 of Makawanpur district, disrupting both local and tourist travel in the region.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Laxmi Bhandari, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Makawanpur, confirmed the obstruction and stated that efforts are underway to clear the debris. The Road Division Office is coordinating with the police to expedite the removal process and restore the route, which is essential for travelers, including tourists heading to Kathmandu from Hetauda and vice versa.
In addition to the road blockage, four individuals were stranded in the Rapti River at Dillipur, Manahari Rural Municipality-5, due to rising water levels last night. A joint rescue operation was swiftly carried out by the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Bagmati Province Disaster Management Team, and the Nepal Army. All four people were successfully rescued, ensuring their safety.
The Kanti Lokpath serves as an important route for both domestic and international tourists visiting the region. The obstruction highlights the challenges posed by natural disasters during the monsoon season, impacting travel and tourism activities in the area. Visitors are advised to stay updated on road conditions and take precautions when traveling through landslide-prone regions.
