Local Entrepreneur Boosts Income through Motorboat Operations at Gangate Tal

In a significant boost to local livelihoods, Ved Bahadur Oli has started operating a motorboat at Gangate Tal in Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City-16, leading to increased income for the local community. The introduction of boating activities has not only attracted visitors but has also led to a rise in the consumption of local products and delicacies.

At 40 years old, Oli has expanded his entrepreneurial efforts by integrating poultry, duck, and fish farming alongside his motorboat operations. The supply of feed and other necessary materials for his farm has also contributed to enhancing the income of local suppliers.

Oli reported substantial earnings from both boating and animal husbandry. “My small resort attracts visitors who come for boating, which has helped promote my business,” he stated. He noted that public holidays and Saturdays see an influx of domestic tourists, with daily boating sessions accommodating 25 to 30 people during the summer months. This has resulted in a monthly income of around NPR 150,000 from his various ventures.

Moreover, Oli has created job opportunities for two residents, while five others from his household are also employed in his businesses. He charges NPR 100 per person for the boating experience and has invested NPR 11 million in his operations to date. Looking ahead, Oli expressed his aspirations to expand his business further, enhancing both local tourism and community prosperity.
