The Lumbini Development Trust held an interaction program with the Lumbini Sanskritik Municipality on Sunday to discuss the protection, promotion, and exploration of Lumbini’s heritage. Both parties emphasized the importance of developing and safeguarding the archaeological, religious, and cultural aspects of the birthplace of Lord Buddha through their collaboration.
Dhundiraj Bhattarai, Treasurer of the Trust, highlighted the necessity for support from local government, residents, and stakeholders, stating that the Trust alone could not ensure the comprehensive development and protection of the Lumbini area. He advocated for making Lumbini a must-visit destination for Buddhist followers and peace enthusiasts worldwide.
Bhattarai called on stakeholders and local government representatives to contribute to the development of Lumbini as a ‘peace site.’
Deputy Mayor of Lumbini Sanskritik Municipality, Kalpana Harijan, underscored Lumbini’s status as an invaluable treasure of Nepal. She emphasized the need to create a supportive environment to enhance collaboration between the Trust and the Municipality.
