Dr. Lharkyal Lama, Vice Chairman of the Lumbini Development Trust, has extended an invitation to Buddhist scholars worldwide to visit Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha. Speaking at the inaugural Asian Buddhist Summit 2024 in New Delhi, Dr. Lama emphasized the Trust’s readiness to warmly welcome scholars to Lumbini, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a significant center for Buddhist pilgrimage.
Dr. Lama highlighted the increasing importance of Buddha’s teachings in promoting global peace, noting that these messages resonate strongly in today’s world. He emphasized the value of Buddhist summits and similar events as platforms for spreading Buddha’s messages of peace, compassion, and tolerance.
Additionally, Dr. Lama advocated for more in-depth research on Buddhist philosophy and practices. He encouraged scholars and researchers to delve into Buddhist teachings to enhance global understanding of peace and tolerance, a call that aligns with the Trust’s mission to preserve and promote Lumbini as a hub of Buddhist heritage and learning.
