Lumbini Province has officially launched the ‘Visit Bardiya’ campaign to highlight Bardiya as a key tourist destination. The campaign, initiated in collaboration with Thakurbaba Municipality, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya on Thursday.
The campaign is part of the provincial government’s approved annual program for the fiscal year 2081/82, under the theme of promoting agriculture, tourism, industry, and infrastructure development as pillars of prosperity. By targeting Bardiya district, the campaign aims to attract both domestic and international tourists.
During the inauguration, Chief Minister Acharya emphasized the provincial government’s focus on tourism development, starting with Bardiya. “Bardiya is home to historical landmarks and a national park that serves as a premier destination for visitors. I warmly invite residents of Lumbini Province to visit and explore Bardiya,” he said.
In a unique move to promote domestic tourism, the provincial government has offered its employees a 10-day leave for internal travel, encouraging them to explore Bardiya. Chief Minister Acharya also reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing Bardiya’s challenges as part of the broader provincial agenda. He emphasized collaboration among local, provincial, and federal governments to resolve issues through a shared approach.
The ‘Visit Bardiya’ campaign aims to position Bardiya National Park and surrounding attractions on the national and international tourism map. Known for its unparalleled biodiversity, Bardiya National Park offers visitors the chance to observe Bengal tigers, rhinos, herds of wild elephants, deer species like chital and swamp deer, and a variety of bird species, all in a single day.
This initiative underscores Lumbini Province’s dedication to enhancing Bardiya’s tourism appeal, supporting local development, and drawing attention to its unique ecological and cultural assets.
