Madhav Kumar Khanal, a leader of CPN-UML and Vice President of the UML Butwal Sub-metropolitan Committee, has been unanimously elected as the President of the Hotel and Restaurant Entrepreneurs Association Rupandehi. His election took place during the Association’s 24th General Assembly and 12th Convention held in Butwal on Saturday.
New Leadership Elected with Full Consensus
The election committee confirmed that the entire leadership panel was selected unopposed after consensus was reached among entrepreneurs from all political backgrounds. According to Swastik Shrestha, a member of the election committee, “The inclusive agreement from various political factions within the entrepreneur community allowed for a smooth and unanimous selection of the new leadership team.”
Joining Khanal in the executive committee are:

- Tourism Vice President: Romakanta Pandey
- First Vice President: Thamman Bahadur Bhandari (Kshetri)
- Second Vice President: Prem Prasad Bhattarai
- General Secretary: Keshav Raj Kandel

The convention was inaugurated by Butwal Sub-metropolitan City Mayor Khel Raj Pandey. In his opening remarks, Mayor Pandey emphasized the municipality’s vision of transforming Butwal into a prominent cultural and tourism destination. “We are committed to developing Butwal as a center of tourism and culture. The local government will actively coordinate with hospitality entrepreneurs to build infrastructure and promote tourism-friendly policies,” he stated.

The newly elected president, Madhav Kumar Khanal, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and pledged to work for the advancement of the hospitality sector in Rupandehi. “Our focus will be on creating a vibrant environment for hotel and restaurant entrepreneurs, addressing industry challenges, and promoting tourism in collaboration with local and provincial stakeholders,” Khanal remarked.
The convention was marked by high participation from hoteliers, restaurant owners, tourism entrepreneurs, and local dignitaries. The inclusive and harmonious election of the new leadership panel was viewed as a positive step toward unity and collective progress in the region’s hospitality industry.
