In an inspiring gesture that combines adventure with admiration, Mahabir Pun’s autobiography has been taken to the summit of the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest (Sagarmatha).
Sajan Dangol, a Nepali residing in Tokha, Kathmandu, and currently working in the UK, carried the book to the top of Everest during his recent expedition. Dangol, an avid supporter of the National Innovation Center founded by Pun, purchased the autobiography and read it during his stay at the Everest Base Camp. On May 14 (Baisakh 31), at 7:50 AM, he successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest and carried the book with him.
Dangol was part of an eight-member expedition team from Expedition High Mountain Treks. His act of taking the book to the top is seen as a symbolic tribute to Mahabir Pun’s contributions to innovation and rural development in Nepal.
In a statement, Mahabir Pun expressed his gratitude. This remarkable gesture has been widely appreciated by Pun’s supporters and followers, highlighting the deep respect and admiration people hold for the visionary behind many of Nepal’s grassroots innovations.
