Starting today, a special religious ceremony will be held at the newly constructed Shree Godavenugopal Temple in Maitidevi, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-29. The event, which runs until Falgun 26, includes the consecration (Pran Pratishtha) and grand purification ritual (Maha Samprokshanam).
Various religious activities such as prayers, fire rituals (Havan), and sacred recitations are scheduled throughout the week. The ceremony will be led by Shri 1008 Ramanuj Jeeyar Swamiji of Totadri Math, with participation options ranging from general worship to special offerings, costing between NPR 1,100 to NPR 7,00,000. Religious leaders and devotees from Nepal and India have been invited.
The Maitidevi temple, originally established in 2022 BS by the late Shree 1008 Srinivasacharya Swamiji, was severely damaged in the 2015 earthquake. It has been reconstructed for NPR 1.6 billion with support from the government and devotees. The temple complex includes a Dharamshala (pilgrims’ rest house) for 800 people, a cowshed, a Yagya Kunda, and plans to start a Gurukul (Vedic school) in the upcoming academic session.
Built-in the Divya Desam architectural style, the temple houses the deities of Goda Venugopal, Mahalaxmi, and Alwar Acharyas. The grand consecration and purification ceremonies will be conducted by the 31st Peetadhipathi of Totadri Math, Shri 1008 Madhurakavi Vanamamalai Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamiji, featuring various rituals such as fire sacrifices, deity installation, and religious discourses from Falgun 21 to 26.
