The Mediplus Hospital & Trauma Center in Ranipauwa, Pokhara has partnered the Third Pumdi Bhumdi Open Mountain Race 2083 as the Hospital Partner, providing ambulance and emergency services to the sports tourism event.
The sports tourism event, scheduled to commence on October 10 in Pokhara 22, is set to be an eventful occasion for the promotion of tourism and sports. Pumdi Bhumdi Mountain Race, which has been organized to promote Pumdi Bhumdi’s nature, religion and culture, is also expected to boost adventure sports and tourism in the region.The initiative is also expected to encourage greater interest in outdoor recreation and destination based tourism in the area.
Hospital To Provide Required Assistance
As per the agreement, Mediplus Hospital will station an ambulance and other medical personnel to give immediate first aid assistance to the race participants. Additionally, the hospital will deploy doctors and paramedics to aid injured athletes and volunteers during the race.
It is pertinent to note that the mountain race requires runners to trek on uneven grounds, thereby putting them at higher risks of injuries and other related injuries. Similarly, participants who might suffer from severe injuries will be given special attention from the hospital.
The organizers felt that the partnership with the hospital will not only enhance the safety of all the participants but will also provide special care to the ones involved in the competition, thus ensuring that there are no impediments on the day of the event. The presence of an experienced medical team is also likely to motivate many to participate in the competition.
Partnership Formalized By Officials Ahead Of October Event
The partnership deal was inked between the Mediplus Hospital & Trauma Center Chief Operating Officer (COO )Prakash B.K and the race coordinator Dinanath Baral. The hospital has joined as one of the key partners of the event, providing medical support to the race participants ahead of the October event. In addition to the hospital, other organizations have also signed on as partners of the competition, with United Ajod Insurance and Majestic Lake Front Hotel & Suites signing on as the insurance and hospitality partners, respectively.
Nelumbo Nepal has been roped in as the medical partner while Pokhara Television has been named the official TV partner of the event. The partnerships are expected to facilitate the smooth organization of the event, addressing the key aspects such as first-aid assistance, hotel accommodation and insurance among others.
Eight Kilometre Race Course Set To Take Runners Through Attractions
The 8 kilometre race track is set to begin at the World Peace Stupa followed by the Giant Shiva Statue in Pumdikot, Pokhara 22, the Ward Office and Kalabang Gharedi Buddha Park. The mountain race course is anticipated to showcase the region’s prominent sights and treats the participants to a thrilling adventure.
The competition has been divided into six categories, including the open, women’s, under 16, foreign tourists, veteran’s and wards’ events. The categorization is likely to encourage more people to take part in the competition, promoting both sports and tourism in the process. The separate category for the foreign tourists will also help bridge the gap between potential visitors to the region and the adventure sports events.
Mountain Race Part Of Broader Sports Tourism Promotion Drive
Pumdi Bhumdi Mountain Race is a part of a larger effort being made to promote sports tourism in the region. Local stakeholders have proposed organizing adventure sports events in Pumdi Bhumdi in order to attract tourists to the serene valley. For instance, the trail being constructed by Asian Development Bank valued at around Rs 52 crore will play a significant role in facilitating sustainable adventure sports and tourism activities in the region.
