Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Inspects Diyalo Palace Museum

The Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Hit Bahadur Tamang, recently conducted an inspection of the Diyalo Palace Museum, located in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-1. This inspection follows the transfer of operational and management responsibilities of the Diyalo Bangla to the metropolitan city.

During his visit, Minister Tamang instructed the staff and the contractor company to expedite the ongoing repair works. The aim is to open the Diyalo Bangla to the public in time for the Bharatpur Visit Year 2024. Currently, 90% of the museum’s renovation work has been completed. The renovation contract, valued at NPR 9.2 million, was awarded to the Didi Bahini Construction Service.

The palace’s first floor features a large meeting room and a staircase adorned with the head of a gharial crocodile, hunted by King Mahendra in 1969. Additionally, a tiger’s head is displayed on the wall.

The historic Diyalo Palace comprises five bedrooms. The first bedroom belonged to Queen Mother Ratna, the second to the king, the third to the queen, and the fourth and fifth to other members of the royal family. This significant site spans an area of 57 bighas, 13 katthas, and 7 dhurs.
