The Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Hit Bahadur Tamang, participated in a crucial session of the House of Representatives held on Wednesday. During the session, he presented a detailed review of the International Relations and Tourism Committee’s report on the proposed amendment to the Archives Preservation Bill 2078.

The meeting, chaired by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Agni Sapkota, focused on the significant amendments proposed in the Archives Preservation Bill, aiming to strengthen the preservation and management of historical records in Nepal. Minister Tamang emphasized the importance of preserving Nepal’s rich cultural heritage and historical documents, highlighting their role in promoting national identity and tourism.

“In our efforts to safeguard our cultural heritage and promote tourism, it is essential to modernize our archival practices,” Minister Tamang stated during the session. He underscored the need for comprehensive legislation that aligns with international standards to ensure the preservation of archives for future generations.

The proposed amendments seek to enhance the legal framework for archival management, incorporating provisions for digitization, conservation, and public access to historical records.
