Minister Pandey Champions Gurukul’s Power to Revive Nepal’s Glorious Ancient Civilization

Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, emphasized the need to revive Nepal’s unique civilization through the Gurukul system. Inaugurating the Sanskrit play “Pratishtha” organized by Kanti Bhairav Gurukul in Gokarneshwar Municipality-4, he stressed that today’s Gurukuls should play a role similar to how the philosopher Chanakya once awakened the people through traditional education.

Minister Pandey stated that Nepal’s culture and natural beauty can be promoted globally to boost tourism and that his ministry is actively working in that direction. “There are discussions that the Sanskrit University has not functioned as per its founding goals. As other state institutions have also failed to meet public expectations, collective effort is needed for improvement.

The Sanskrit University, being a valuable institution with physical infrastructure, must be properly utilized. Efforts are underway to establish Nepal Ved Vidyashram in Pashupati area as a full-fledged college,” he added.

He also mentioned that since Nepal is the land of both the Vedas and Buddha, it can be positioned globally as a center of both knowledge traditions. Noting the growing importance of spirituality over material aspects in recent times, he called for society to be inspired by the values of civilization, culture, Eastern literature, and the Sanskrit language. During the program, Sanskrit and Tantra scholar Prof. Bidya Nath Upadhyaya Bhatt was honored.
