Minister Pandey Stresses Uniformity in Activities of Cultural Academies

Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Prasad Pandey, has highlighted the need for uniformity in the functioning of cultural academies operating under the ministry. During the presentation of the annual report of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts at the Ministry today, the Minister emphasized the importance of streamlining the operations of these academies, pointing out that some lack proper legal frameworks while others do not have their buildings.

Minister Pandey further stressed that the central academies should take a leadership role in ensuring uniform activities across academies at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels. This, he stated, would promote cohesion and efficient management of the country’s cultural and artistic sectors.

At the event, Narad Mani Hartamchhali, Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, shared the progress made in the previous fiscal year, noting that fine arts exhibitions were held in all seven provinces. He also mentioned that academic assemblies were organized in Gandaki, Sudurpaschim, and Madhes provinces, and that work is ongoing to develop Dang as a ‘Ceramics Hub.’

Hartamchhali also brought attention to the pressing issues faced by the Academy, including a lack of budget and permanent staff, urging Minister Pandey to address these concerns to ensure the Academy’s smooth operation.

The call for uniformity and resource management reflects the government’s focus on strengthening the cultural institutions of Nepal and promoting arts and heritage nationwide.
