Hit Bahadur Tamang, Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, has underscored the potential for a substantial rise in Indian religious tourists visiting Nepal. His remarks coincide with the initiation of the foundation stone laying ceremony for an eight-metal statue of Lord Shiva by the Devghat Dham Conservation Foundation in Chitwan.
Minister Tamang highlighted Nepal’s capacity to attract hundreds of thousands of religious tourists not only via air routes but also through land routes. He disclosed that budget allocations for the construction of the eight-metal Shiva statue were meticulously planned in consultation with the Prime Minister. Tamang emphasized tourism as pivotal to the country’s growth and prosperity, emphasizing the integral role of religious tourism in this context.
He reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to equality among all religious communities, stressing that every religious group enjoys equal rights in the country. Tamang urged for the meticulous implementation of the allocated budget to ensure smooth progress without encountering any issues. This initiative reflects Nepal’s strategic efforts to enhance tourism infrastructure and capitalize on its rich cultural and religious heritage to bolster economic development.
