Minister Tamang Highlights Cultural Heritage’s Role in Nepal’s Prosperity

In a significant address at the 52nd anniversary of the Cultural Corporation in Kathmandu, Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Hit Bahadur Tamang, emphasized the critical contribution of cultural heritage to Nepal’s national development. He stressed the integration of culture and tourism as a potent driver of economic growth.

Minister Tamang acknowledged the Cultural Corporation’s pivotal role in fostering social change and economic prosperity through cultural awareness and job creation. He highlighted Nepal’s rich diversity—multi-ethnic, multilingual, and multicultural—and underscored the necessity of preserving these cultural facets for national advancement. While commending ongoing efforts by the ministry in this regard, he urged the Cultural Corporation to intensify its efforts and fulfill its mandate effectively.

“As the primary advocate for cultural affairs,” Minister Tamang asserted, “the Cultural Corporation must assume a more proactive role in safeguarding Nepal’s cultural heritage, which is integral to our national identity.” Originally established as the National Dance Hall in 2018, the Cultural Corporation transformed the Cultural Corporation Act of 2029, marking Ashadh 5, 2028, as a significant milestone in its evolution.
