Minister Tamang Highlights Reforms and Promotion Plans for Nepal Airlines and Tourism Sector

Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Hit Bahadur Tamang has emphasized ongoing efforts for managerial, institutional, and legal reforms to enhance the Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC). Addressing lawmakers’ concerns during the National Assembly meeting on the Appropriation Bill 2081 BS, Minister Tamang revealed that various strategies are under discussion based on a report from the NAC operation and management committee.

Minister Tamang highlighted that the Ministry is following the recommendations of the NAC Reforms Recommendation Committee, led by former Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor Dipendra Bahadur Chhetri.

In addition to NAC reforms, Minister Tamang reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to preserving and promoting Nepal’s diverse languages, cultures, and arts. He mentioned that a decision regarding the public display of the statue of Pashupatinath would be made, considering traditional practices.

The Ministry has allocated funds for the protection and promotion of religiously significant tourist sites, including Lumbini, Pashupatinath, Muktinath, and Ram Janaki Temple. Minister Tamang also noted plans to organize tourism programs in India and China to attract tourists, aiming to reach the goal of 1.6 million visitors annually as outlined in the Tourism Strategic Plan 2016-2025.
