Ministers and Tourism Stakeholders Urge Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to Push for Regular International Flights at Pokhara International Airport

A delegation from Gandaki Province, including the Minister for Industry and Tourism, Mitralal Basyal, and local tourism entrepreneurs, has urged Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to take action for the initiation of regular international flights at Pokhara International Airport. The meeting took place today at the Prime Minister’s office in Singhadurbar.

Minister Basyal emphasized the importance of international flights for the growth of tourism in Pokhara, the tourist capital of Gandaki Province. He also requested the central government to officially designate Pokhara as the country’s tourism capital to boost its recognition on the global tourism map.

In response, Prime Minister Oli acknowledged the government’s commitment to promoting tourism, highlighting Nepal’s declaration of 2025 as the “Visit Nepal Year.” He assured the delegation that during his upcoming visit to China, he would advocate for measures to increase tourist arrivals. Furthermore, the Prime Minister expressed his support for facilitating regular international flights to Pokhara.

The meeting was attended by several key figures, including Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Minister Badri Pandey, Secretary of the Ministry of Province Affairs Kuman Singh Gurung, President of the Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry Gokarna Karki, and President of the Pokhara Tourism Council Taranath Pahadi, among others.
