A recent monitoring visit was conducted to schools teaching conservation education under the Annapurna Conservation Area Project, Sikles Area Conservation Office. The visited schools included Himalaya Milan Secondary School in Tangting, Janmandir Basic School, Janakalyan Secondary School, and Sewa Milan Secondary School in Bhachok.

During the visit, discussions were held with the school principals and conservation education teachers regarding the “Message of Nature” textbook, its relevance, and how to further refine the curriculum. The conversation also touched upon the challenges faced by the schools and the ongoing support provided by the organization since the beginning.

As part of the discussion, the schools’ needs and challenges were acknowledged, and the role of the organization in supporting conservation education was recognized and appreciated. Currently, conservation education is being taught in 18 schools within the Annapurna Conservation Area. The visit highlighted the importance of such educational initiatives in fostering a deeper understanding of environmental conservation among students.
