The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported that monsoon conditions are currently prevailing across the country. According to the department, the monsoon trough is situated around the average position in the west and slightly south of the average position in the east.
As per the weather forecast bulletin released this morning, most parts of the country are experiencing partial to moderate cloud cover. Light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunder, is occurring in some areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, with scattered rainfall in other regions.
The department has also forecasted that partial to moderate cloud cover will persist throughout the day. Thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall are expected in some hilly regions, while a few areas in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces may experience heavy rainfall.
With the possibility of heavy rainfall in these regions, the department has advised caution against potential risks such as landslides, floods, and soil erosion. These hazards may disrupt daily life and affect sectors such as agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, and both road and air transport.
The department urges the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions, especially in areas prone to natural disasters.
