The monsoon in Nepal has started to withdraw from today, marking the end of the season four days later than the expected timeline. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the monsoon has begun to retreat from several areas of Sudurpaschim Province, most parts of Karnali Province, and some western regions of Lumbini Province.
Meteorologist Rojan Lamichhane stated that with the weakening of monsoon winds, it is likely that the rest of the country will see the monsoon’s exit in the coming days. Despite the withdrawal, light rainfall is still expected in one or two locations within Koshi, Gandaki, Bagmati, and Lumbini provinces over the next three days, as per the Meteorological Forecasting Division.
In recent days, temperatures across the country have been dropping, and with the increased activity of western winds, colder weather is anticipated. This year’s monsoon had entered Nepal on June 11, one day later than usual, and now, it is exiting with a delay of four days.
The monsoon, which typically affects the entire country, had taken an additional week to spread across all regions earlier this year.
