Monsoon Effects Felt Across Nepal, Heavy Rainfall Expected in Some Areas

The entire country is currently experiencing the effects of monsoon winds, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Meteorological Forecasting Division. The monsoon trough is presently positioned slightly south of its average location.

Currently, the hilly regions of Koshi Province and other areas are witnessing partial to moderate cloud cover, while the rest of the country remains mostly clear with some partial cloud cover. Light rainfall is occurring at one or two locations in Koshi Province.

For today, partial to moderate cloud cover is expected across the country. There is a possibility of light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, at a few locations in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Provinces, as well as at one or two locations in other provinces. Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two locations in Koshi and Gandaki Provinces.

Tonight, partial to moderate cloud cover will continue across the country. Light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is expected at some locations in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Provinces, as well as at a few locations in other provinces. There is a possibility of heavy rainfall at a few locations in Koshi and Bagmati Provinces, with very heavy rainfall at one or two locations.

In the next 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is expected at some locations in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Provinces, and at a few locations in other provinces. The Department also warns of heavy rainfall at a few locations in Koshi and Bagmati Provinces, with very heavy rainfall at one or two locations.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has urged residents to exercise caution, particularly in areas at risk of landslides, floods, and soil erosion, as these areas could experience significant impacts on daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, road, and air transport.
