Monsoon Influence Continues Across the Country

The monsoon system remains active throughout the country, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division. The monsoon low-pressure line is currently positioned near its average location in the western region and slightly south of its normal position in the eastern region.

At present, most of the country is experiencing partly to generally cloudy conditions. Light rainfall is occurring in some areas of the Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces. The department predicts that partial to moderate cloud cover will persist across the country throughout the day.

There is a chance of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in a few locations in other provinces. Additionally, heavy rainfall is possible in one or two hilly regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Tonight, the country is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy. Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms is likely in some hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, and in a few places elsewhere. Heavy rainfall may also occur in one or two locations in Bagmati and Karnali provinces.

The department has warned that heavy rainfall could occur in one or two hilly areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces in the next 24 hours. It has advised residents of these areas to remain cautious due to the potential risks of landslides, flooding, and soil erosion. The department also noted that such weather could affect daily life, including agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, and transportation, both on the roads and in the air. Necessary precautions are advised to minimize the impact of these conditions.
